The annual Musica Mundo Festival in Amersfoort
Musica Mundo Festival is a vibrant annual summer festival featuring a variety of concerts by diverse groups from around the world; a meeting; an open-air cinema; an afterparty; a residency; and a parade through the city from a suburb. Musica Mundo Festival connects audiences with magical sounds and unique tones that connect different continents. Contemporary music groups create their own fusions from these sounds, creating a new sound. Musica Mundo brings new rhythms from all corners of the world, adding color and nuance to the Western approach to harmonies.
Musica Mundo: a palette of music from all over the world
Musica Mundo's program features distinctive, adventurous, and innovative world music. World music is defined as music with recognizable elements from diverse cultures.
Musica Mundo chooses bands that develop a distinctive, unique whole from a mix of musical styles, partly shaped by the diverse backgrounds of the band members. These artists each bring inspiration and influences from their own culture. Many of them push the boundaries by integrating jazz, blues, pop, and electronica into their style. Another characteristic of the bands is that they introduce new instruments into their chosen style and are also capable of delivering a dynamic, rhythmic, and engaging performance. Musica Mundo is also a meeting place for artists, where they can inspire each other and forge new collaborations to explore other blends.
Where can you find Musica Mundo?
The Musica Mundo Festival is freely accessible and takes place annually in the open air at the Lieve Vrouwekerkhof in the centre of Amersfoort. There are additional activities in the streets, on other squares, in Poppodium Fluor and in Theater De Lieve Vrouw.
