In June 2025, Amersfoort will have a first: Stichting ArteGanza and Broedplaats OostWest will jointly present the very first residency within the Musica Mundo Festival. From 23 June, Moroccan virtuoso Aziz Ozouss and the young Amersfoort Afro band Luna Maki will work together for five days on new repertoire. The musical exchange will start on Friday 27 June in Theater De Lieve Vrouw, followed by an afterparty on Saturday 28 June in pop venue Fluor.
Musical worlds merge
Aziz Ozouss, master of Amazigh music, is known for his enchanting playing on traditional instruments such as the ribab and the loutar. He joins forces with Luna Maki, the eight-piece band around vocalist Roger Makizodila. Where Ozouss has his roots deep in Moroccan heritage, Luna Maki digs into the musical wealth of the African diaspora with rousing Afro-grooves. During the residency, these musicians will experiment for a few days in Broedplaats OostWest. This creates a unique cross-pollination of traditions, rhythms and stories, where boundaries blur and a new musical language is born.
Opening Musica Mundo: an ode to innovation
The Musica Mundo Festival, known for its colorful programming of world music, is taking a new direction with this residency. Young, local makers are not only given a stage, but also the opportunity to develop themselves artistically in dialogue with international greats. The collaboration between Ozouss and Luna Maki is a vibrant experiment that not only opens the festival, but also lets new energy flow through Amersfoort. More information about the opening concert.
Dance into the night

Here new musical paths are explored, in which electronic rhythms, traditional sounds and sizzling grooves find each other. Ozouss, Luna Maki and guests of the festival invite the audience to let loose in an energetic celebration of music and connection. Read more about the afterparty at Fluor.
